Geocache Description:

This is my first cache hidden. Why I chose a multi to start, I don't know, but I hope you enjoy it. It is designed to help show you the multitude of activities you can do at Murdock Park.

This is just one of many City parks to enjoy. In its 39 acres of urban forest it offers 2 shelters, frisbee golf, tree labels on a walking path, playgrounds, a sled hill during the winter that even has a snow making machine, public restroom for those of you traveling long distances, a basketball court and a baseball field among other things.

Please DO NOT park on school property. The coordinates indicated for the cache are not really for the cache. These take you to one of several parking areas at the park that you may use.

For the first 6 stages of this cache, you will need to walk the more popular section of trail to find the remainder of the coordinates for what will eventually lead you to the final cache. After your first 6 stages, the next cache is located at:

N 40 deg 25.ABC
W 086 deg 52.DEF

The first 6 stages should be a terrain of 1.5 and are kid friendly, however please grab their hands as y ou may have to cross the road in a couple of areas. After the first 6 stages the terrain may get a little rougher, more like a 2.5, hence the final terrain rating. Although you can take an old paved trail on part of it that the Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Club help build. I would not recommend doing this one at night. Good luck and Godspeed!

STAGE 1 - N 40 deg 25.183 W 086 deg 52.358
There are 2 numbers here on a red circle. Write down the smaller number. This becomes "C" in the coordinates above.

STAGE 2 - N 40 deg 25.168 W 086 deg 52.374
Count the total number of leaves in the picture. Drop all numerals except for the last one (ie. If there are 123 leaves, only use the 3). This becomes "E" in the coordinates above.

STAGE 3 - N 40 deg 25.163 W 086 deg 52.378
Count the total number of leaves in the picture. Now count the total number of acorns in the picture. Subtract the acorns from the leaves. This new number becomes "A" in the coordinates above.

STAGE 4 - N 40 deg 25.188 W 086 deg 52.492
There is a 2 digit number here, select the first digit in the number, this becomes "F" in the coordinates above. (example if the number is 32, just use the 3).

STAGE 5 - N 40 deg 25.183 W 086 deg 52.578
There are ages listed on this sign. Please write down the youngest age. This becomes "D" in the coordinates above. Some of you may want to stop here for a while

STAGE 6 - N 40 deg 25.235 W 086 deg 52.583
There is a sign here with some rules. If they added a new rule here saying "Yield to all geocachers", what number would this new rule be. Yes it needs to be after the last existing one. This becomes "B" in the coordinates above.

Alright, you are now 6 steps closer to the cache. Take these coordinates and go find the next step. It shouldn't be long now (at least I hope not). I did find a lost dirt bicycle rider in these parts and had to help guide him out. (Stage 7 may be missing, Add .034 to the North and Subtract .046 from the West to get to the final stage).

The final cache starts out with 2 Chuck E. Cheese coins for the kids who make it all the way through, a Can cooler from the Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Club for the adults who make it through, and a compass/thermometer/whistle and whatever else it does for the first one to make it through and can't find thier way out.

Thanks to Ted Bumbleburg, Lafayette Parks Superintendent, who gave me permission to place this cache in the park and to his staff for providing us with great parks to go to. Enjoy the park!!
