Geocache Description:

Cache is located Near Calwich Abbey near to the path.

The ruined Calwich Abbey was first built on the site in 1148. However the latest was built in 1848 and was demolished in 1935, leaving only the stable block which is visible today. The composer Handel was one of the abbey's guests on several occasions and it has been suggested that it may have inspired some of his most important pieces such as Messiah and the Water Music.

Please take care in the cache area for mugles. The land owner is very touchy about trespasers so it is imperative that you keep to the paths at all times. There is no need to leave the path to access the cache. For this reason it is advisable not to visit the cache during darkness hours.

An interestin point on a circular walk from Ellastone. You might like to take a look at the Golds Wood Cache whilst your out this way.
