Things to see

Statue of Saint Stephen: N 47° 19,017' E 18° 54,568'
First king and founder of Hungarian state who succeeded to join the tribes and was crowned in 1000 by the pope. Because of the funny shape of his mantle he is pet-named "Batman of Batta". Behind the statue, you can see Presbyterian church designed by Jozsef Finta (a famous Hungarian architect). Don't be misled by the simple exterior, the church is READY, the plaster-work is missing intentionally to give the church an original appearance :)

The Makovecz-church: N 47° 19,056' E 18° 54,513'
Church designed by Imre Makovecz, another very famous Hungarian architect. Next to the church you can see the bust of Jozsef Antal, who was the prime minister of Hungary after fall of socialist regime in 1989.

The power plant of Szazhalombatta: N 47° 19,581' E 18° 54,828'
The biggest power plant of Hungary supplying more than one third of the electricity. Since in fact it consist of two power plants, it could start to operate even if all the other plants have been powered down. Water of its cooling system is taken from the Danube and when it heats up, it flows out to channels similar to the one you see here. The water then flows across several stairs to cool down, some of them can be seen around here, too. Finally this huge mass of water flows to the Benta stream. On the one side of the road from where you came you can see the small stream flowing yet separately while on the other the two flows join and roll on together back to the Danube. Here you will find the coordinates of the cache: N 47° 19.477' E 018° 54.848' [next to "Roman-bridge" in the tree (not under the bridge)

Archeological park: N 47° 20,204' E 18° 56,351' Opering hours: 10-18h, except Monday. There are more than 120 burial-mounds around from 7.-5. centuries B.C. and even earliest. The 2700 year old burial-mound No. 115 found in the southern part of the cemetery is said to be unique in Europe since it remained practically untouched. Inside the burial-mound you can see a video presentation about the ceremonial customs of burials in that era. Besides that you can taste ancient foods, weave textile, make earthen pots and trinkets, weave or plaster up fence and even-more: you may take the self-made product home.

Summer Fest Provided you visit Batta City between 12. and 22. of August, you can enjoy the annual international folk dance festival. In these days, the town is full of foreign young people dressed in nice and interesting national costumes. Every evening several dance groups present themselves in the cultural center on the main square. The programs are of high level and the performance is almost always professional. After the program you can meet the dancers speak with them or learn some basic steps of their dances...
