Geocache Description:

A small cache over looking the Lovely cotswold village of Stanton.

Along with many Cotswold villages,Stanton suffered during the agricultural depression that lasted for much of the later 19th century.Poverty and migration of workers, either into the cities or abroad, left the village half empty and its buildings dilapidated. In 1906 the architect Sir Philip Stott bought Stanton court, and became squire of the village. He not only restored the court but also set about restoring many of the houses in the village.
The beautiful main street of the village, lined with fine stone cottages that typify the Cotswolds, owes its appearance and preservation to Stott.
