Dean's Walk Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Skyros: Yes, it's gone. [:(]Pity because lots of people discovered this great park through the cache. I will have to work on a replacement.

Geocache Description:

Along the Dean's Walk in Wallace Park.

Wallace Park is the premier Urban recreational parkland open space within the City of Lisburn. It lies within 500 metres and to the North East of the City Centre between the Belfast Road to the East and the Magheralave Road to the West. The park is a mixed-use open space comprising Sports Fields, Children’s Play Provision, Open Grassland, Footpaths and Seating, Parkland Trees and Ornamental duck pond.

Donated to the people of Lisburn by Sir Richard Wallace in the last quarter of the 19th century, Wallace Park has been the responsibility of Lisburn City Council and its predecessors for well over 100 years. Situated beside the main Belfast to Dublin railway line, it is within two minutes walk of the city centre. Wallace Park covers an area of 11.39 ha (28.13 acres) and forms an unusually large green open space close to the city centre and entirely within the urban footprint of the city. The cricket ground is a prominent area within the central part of the park and this land was given to the ownership of Lisburn Cricket Club by Sir Richard Wallace in a separate agreement. The two Gate Lodges, one at each entrance, have recently been leased to Hearth Housing Association. They have refurbished them and they are currently occupied.

An extensive refurbishment of the whole park including a great nearby playpark has just been completed and draws a huge number of children to the area. Muggles have increased dramatically particularly during school holidays and weekends. It will be hard to tear the kids away from here.

Also looking in pristine condition after their facelift are the tennis courts the changing pavilion and the duck pond. Dont forget to feed the ducks.

A 450ml tab-lock box containing log and pencil and a few swaps . This is a well used park with many muggles and their dogs. Stealth is required as this area is exposed
