Geocache Description:

A small (200ml) plastic box cache at the memorial plaque to the Celtic artist George Bain, limited parking 500m nearby. Please note this cache was made when we lived nearby but it is no longer possible for it to be maintained but it's such an amazing spot we hope it survives through others finding it and keeping it safe :)

Memorial Plaque for George Bain and Jessie Mackintosh George Bain has been referred to as the father of modern Celtic design as a result of his studies of Celtic and Pictish decorative techniques. He trained as an artist in Edinburgh but retired to Drumnadrochit in 1946, the birthplace of his wife, Jessie. The cache is at the site of a memorial made by George Bain for his wife with the following inscription: "In this place of her choice and her happy childhood the ashes of Jessie Mackintosh were scattered by George Bain who hopes to join her here." You can find out more about Geroge Bain and his art at the Groam House Museum.
