Geocache Description:

The Summer CacheWalker Bash will take the form of a picnic at Big Meadow in Bidford-on-Avon!

There will be two walks, one (long, but hopefully flat...) before lunch, and one (shorter, also hopefully flat) after lunch! (Remember this is Avonvale, not the Cotswolds!)

Note the co-ords are for the BIG MEADOW ENTRANCE! You need to drive/ walk onto the meadow and find us!! (See below)

Updates

- Big Meadow is BIG (obviously!) To find us look out for TB1V2BW (especially if we're not back from the walk yet when you arrive!)

- The gates are open by 8:30am so walkers can park on the Meadow. Not sure if we will get charged or not at that time in the morning!
- Kai says to tell you there are plenty of swimming spots in the Avon for Geohounds!
- Hopefully we'll be at the far end of the Meadow, near the football pitch, so kids (or big kids!) can have a kick-about, so bring a ball (but don't show it to Kai...!)
- There may well be an ice-cream van, or even a burger van there on the day, if the weather is good!
- If it's raining we'll be in the pub (The Frog, High Street, Bidford-on-Avon, B50 4BG - N 52 09.850 W1 51.465)

Local Caches
If you're not joining us for the morning walk, there are plenty of local Caches to keep you busy!
Our Salford Seven series (plus some of our other Caches) in Salford Priors
Team Caracache's Pole Dance series in Welford-on-Avon
Several in Alcester by Delta68 including (aren't we lucky!) a Wherigo They've even hidden a new series (The Greenway) not too far away, just in time for the event!
We've also hidden one in Bidford to give you something to do!

What's On?
8:30am Meet for Walk 1 (depart 9am), to Windmill Hill and back (7.5 miles) Includes 3 existing Caches
1:30pm Event Proper, Picnic
3:30pm Shorter Walk 2 to Barton (c5 miles)

WARNING!!!
Please note the 26-acre Big Meadow is right beside the River Avon and there is no barrier! You need to keep a tight rein on GeoKids and GeoHounds!

Parking
Parking is available at Big Meadow itself, though a fee applies. “The fee for entering and parking on the Big Meadow remains unchanged from 2007 at £2.00 per vehicle.”

There is also a free council car park on the entrance to the village - N52 09.908 W1 51.420 (added as waypoint to listing).

Lunch
Please BYOP (Picnic, that is, not Pencil!) as refreshments will not be available on site. If you want a seat or rug to sit on you need to bring that too! Note though that there is a Budgens on the main road (B439 to Stratford) and a OneStop (or similar) at the traffic lights before the bridge.

Kids
There is a great kids play area in the Meadow too! (bikermel & schnarff have that on good authority from their niecephews!)

Caches
New Caches will be released before the morning walk, and at the Picnic (for the afternoon walk). There may also be some new Caches in the village itself for those not going on the walks, again these will be released at the Picnic, and there are plenty of existing Caches in the nearby parish of Salford Priors, plus Welford-on-Avon and the Lenches etc.

Walks
Walk 1 Around 7-8 miles (mostly flat, unlike wrighty's usual walks!). 5 new Caches plus existing Caches; GC1046Z (short detour), GCZN2B and GC17DPQ
Walk 2 Around 5 miles with 6 new Caches(no existing Caches)

Other Stuff to do
Saturday 28th - Salford Priors fete from 2pm at the playing field behind the school
Also on Sat 28th, Bidford on Avon Cricket Club play local rivals Harvington at the Big Meadow – make a weekend of it!
