One of the larger lakes in west Sligo is Easkey lough . Whereas Lough Talt is sheltered and charming, Easkey lough is barren and austere with its eastern boulder strewn flank being reminiscent of Connemara or an alien moonscape, the russet hues of blanket bog sweep around the sombre lake. This is the most remote uninhabited region of Sligo so make sure you have reserve supplies and plenty of fuel in your tank!
The Lake can be accessed by road from Dromore West or Tubbercurry and the walking path “The Sligo Way” runs along the lake linking up with Lough Talt.
This is a straightforward cache on the northern shore of the lake
The cache a lunchbox type which initially contained the usual trinkets with a Geocoin
This area demonstrated the diversity in the landscape of County Sligo and exemplifies
the slogan “Sligo is surprising”
