On a hike through the area, my friend’s daughter discovered this site and inspired the cache and the story. as you have to sign in to the park for a day pass, grab a trail map from the office (colored trails). the site is on the red trail between the blue and yellow trails. About mile to a mile and a half from the parking for Pecan Flats trail.
Long ago, in a time before mankind inhabited these shores, the land was inhabited by all sorts of mystical creatures. Dragons, fairies, elves and goblins lived here in harmony with each other. Each species respected each others ways. On sunny days, the young fairy Emily would come to visit with the dragons. Emily loved them all but her favorite was Eazmrr. Eazmrr was an old and wise dragon, the matriarch of the dragon clan. As she would sit, watching over her eggs, she would relay her wisdom and caring to Emily with stories of her travels. She taught Emily how to respect life and to care for all that nature has provided.
When mankind had settled into the area, they all but depleted the land of it’s wealth of life. They had built roads and castles, turned flourishing fields into desolate lifeless places. Mankind Feared the dragons, and set out to destroy them all. The dragons that evaded their fate from men fled to other realms. However one dragon remained in the area… Eazmrr. Emily was saddened by the disappearance of the dragons. She knew that the dragons would never return and would become extinct if Eazmrr and her egg did not survive. So Emily had convinced Eazmrr of a plan to preserve the dragon race. She would cast Eazmrr into stone so she could hide from the humans and watch over her egg until it hatched. But the egg would not be allowed to hatch until mankind had learned the respect for life and nature that the dragons and the fairies had shared. And when that time came, the young dragon would set forth into the world to herald the dragons back to their homeland. And so it was. With tears in her eyes, Emily said good-bye to Eazmrr and cast her spell.
To this day, Eazmrr stands watch over precious egg, waiting for the day when mankind learns to respect nature and her young offspring brings about the return of the dragons. The fairies have left this world and have begun a new life on distant shores. But on special occasion, the fairy Emily, returns to check on Eazmrr and assures her that the revival is near.
The coordinates will bring you to a large boulder. Face east to see Eazmrr watching you. The cache can be found in her line of site a few yards away. But don’t let Eazmrr see you. Please handle the container with care…eggs are fragile.
