Geocache Description:

Brightly colored ammo can, camoflauged well with debris, 35-50 feet off a dirt road that is very bumpy. You may want to take a truck or 4x4. Be careful getting to the cache... there are spots that give way when you step and lots of downed trees and limbs that you have to go over. Also lots of thorns and probably poison plants and wildlife. I woulnd't recommend this at night.

Terabithia is a symbol of idealized childhood, of a perfect world in which children can rule supreme without the heavy responsibilities of adulthood. No bad thing can touch the rulers of Terabithia—no matter what the obstacle, they will always emerge victorious.

This cache is called "A Mermaid's Terabithia". Although it is as near to the ocean as it could be in Doral, the mermaid guards a treasure in the woods. Where she sits, all around her are trees, some standing, some not, and it's her own private Terabithia. The treasure she guards is an ammo can, brightly painted and decorated by one of the best artists I know, my 8 year old daughter, MountainModel. In it, you will find the log book, a Bahamas Starfish Geocoin, shell bracelets, the biggest diamond ring ever, two or three very nice pendants, some of the mermaid's sea friends, and other comforts that would make any mermaid feel like a princess. The theme is the ocean so please stick to it when you trade. Also included in the contents, but please do not remove, are a camera (to take pictures of yourself with the cache), a few of my underwater pictures, and a few ocean finds (i.e. a seahorse, shark's teeth). Feel free to add anything to the ocean finds and trade out with the jewelry, toys, etc.

About the cache location; it is off of a dirt road that runs down NW 74th Street. You can get to it by 107th, but you will have to jump a curb. The best access is down 97th Avenue which turns into a dead end and dirt roads run both left and right. When your GPS shows you very close, you must venture into the woods about 35-50 feet. The terrain is pretty rough going in. The trees are all soft and the ground seems to give way in some places. Be very careful! My daughter and I placed this at night, and it was very scary (to me; not my fearless MountainModel), so I would recommend you do this one during the day. There are thorns, downed limbs, and various obstacles to get to Terabithia, but her treasure is worth the trudge into the woods. You can probably park just outside of where you need to enter and leave your car. That's what we did, and no cars came at all. This is pretty much an untraveled road. You will probably need a 4x4 or truck that can take the bouncy ride. Grab a stick as you enter the woods and use it to help you get through. You may have to use your back track feature on your GPS. Once you get inside Terabithia, everything almost looks the same. Even though the cache is bright blue, it is camoflauged well with debris. Please leave it the way you found it in case anyone tries to dump back there. The Mermaid's Terabithia is well worth the extra effort.
