Geocache Description:

The cache is a sandwich container covered in camouflage tape. Please use caution to avoid muggles during popular times, but most of the time your search will be muggle-free. Please use care when removing the cache and when removing/replacing the lid.

The Sloman School on Wheels is a museum and tribute to Fred Sloman, who ran one of seven schools for residents of Northern Ontario from a train car. From the Sloman School Car history:
Each week, a CNR 'wayfreight" train moved the "school car" to specially-built sidings between Capreol and Folyet, where it would remain for five days or so. Pupils would then be left with sufficient homework to last until their school returned to them from a full tour of its 149-mile (240 km) schoolyard. More than 1,000 children graduated from this unique school, including Fred and Cela Sloman's own five children.

In 1940, CNR replaced the first school car with an 80-foot converted colonist car. Under the Sloman's direction, it was refurbished to meet the needs of both school and family living quarters. This new car, which was built in 1914, was numbered "CNR School on Wheels No.15089", and served until 1964, when Fred Sloman retired and moved back to his boyhood home, Clinton....

In July 1982, when the car was re-discovered under private ownership near Toronto, Ontario, the Town of Clinton decided to purchase the former workplace of one of its most famous citizens, and on October 22, 1982, it was safely delivered to Clinton by CN Rail.

Please trade only school-related items (loosely defined). For example, when placed, the cache contained some erasers, some pens, some pencil sharpeners, a butterfly clip, a frog (remember biology class?), and a geocoin. Note: if you have trouble finding this cache, look about 15-20 feet south of where you first started looking. I don't know why, but many GPSrs seem to point a bit north of the actual hide.

If the school is open for visitors when you are at the cache, a quick visit will be worth your while. And please feel free to take one of the brochures that is in the cache.
