A cache and dash located along US 6, east of the Rulison exit (MM 82). You'll have to park along the road, so becareful. Lot's of large truck traffic on this road. Use caution, lots of loose rock and unstable boulders
Western Colorado is home to several small creatures that make their homes in rocks and crevasses, such as those that are located at this cache site. Bull snakes are much more common than rattlesnakes, and in fact the bull snake is a common predator of the rattlesnake. Common fence lizards, skinks and green collared lizards can be found among the rocks along the sun-warmed south facing slopes. These same slopes also harbor smaller insects like the scorpion, which is very common around the Parachute/Rulison area. Fortunately they only grow to 2 or 3 inches in length. And finally, the common deer tick. Always a nuisance when out hiking. At the end of the day, check around your ankles, legs, crotch, armpits and hair. Ticks like to hide in areas that are warm, moist and dark, hoping to attach to a host and go un-noticed until they have gorged themselves on their un-witting host. Other than that, have a good day caching!
Congratulations to go pokes for the FTF :0)
