Geocache Description:

Frazier Park, California. You can park at the Post office, or if you intend to search for the other two caches in this park, you can also park in the park's lot.

In 1927 Frazier Park was being developed as a spot for vacation homes and recreational activities. The developers planned to create seven ponds of various size for fishing, boating, etc - put only five were finished. Only one of the ponds are still here and can be visited at the cache "My Hometown Micro 1" (GCHGQJ)created by KTownGirl. The possible location of two other ponds can be seen in some obviously man made depressions in the park - these may have been among the original seven planned ponds. One is now the less cared for of two baseball fields just west of "My Hometown Micro 2" (GCHGQK). The other is this cache. If this was meant to be one of the original ponds, it was cut off by the more recent highway, and is most likely the pond farthest to the left in the below artist rendering. The major road in the picture is not the modern highway you came in on, by Mt. Pinos Way, a much smaller street parallel and north of the current highway. The pond 2nd to the left would then be the one that still exists, and the pond third from the left would be what is now the old baseball field. The last two, and much larger, ponds were completely filled in. Note: this is just my theory, I haven't had the history checked out.

This is my first cache, so I tried to make this one pretty easy. But I listed terrain as 2, because you do have to walk down into what was once the old pond, and it is not wheelchair accessible. And the location of the cache should be pretty easy to find. You can also see here where nature has started to create its own pond "almost pond". But don't worry, unless time makes some serious changes to the area, you will only be walking on dry land. Note: cache is a black painted Altoids tin fashioned with magnets, but turned out the magnets weren't needed. The traffic flow here is next to nothing and should be an easy grab. Can hold very small items like beads, small rocks and coins. For the FTF, I couldn't think of anything interesting to put in there, so I put some nicely polished stones that I had from an old geology collection. I think they are some sort of quartz, not sure.
