A nice Place, easy to find and fast to reach. Enough space for small items and Travelbugs. Nice view for Airplane-Fanatics!
TRANSLATION OF THE CACHE "A LA MEMOIRE DE LEO" (Merci à Jacquou!!!)
Un bel endroit, facile à trouver et rapide à atteindre. Assez d’espace
pour de petits items. belle vue pour les « fanas d’avions ».
Leo Allkamper était un pilote allemand renommé, qui découvrit le fantastique espace aérien et ses possibilités pour les pilotes de planeurs, au
début des années 1950. Beaucoup le suivirent (dont moi) et apprécièrent
le « vol sur la vague » sur l’aile Mistral (la bien nommée).
Leo est mort et enterré à Tourettes. Cela vaut définitivement le coup
de lui rendre mémoire de cette façon.
Cette cache n’est pas située sur le terrain d’aviation. Vous pouvez
vous parquer près du restaurant, à partir duquel il y a une petite marche
de 10 mn. Vous n’avez pas à traverser le terrain d’aviation non plus. Les coordinates sont très juste!
S’il vous plaît, laissez tout en l’état. Je retourne là-bas trois
fois par an pour la maintenance et ... pour planer. Merci.
ENGLISH VERSION:
Leo Allkämper was a famous German gliderpilot, who discoevered this fantastic airfield and it´s possibiltities for german gliderpilots first in the early fifties. Many other followed him ´til today and enjoyed the wave-flying in the well known "Mistral" wind (Including me...).
Leo died in Tourrettes, where he is also buried.
It´s definitely worth to remember him in this way and to dedicate him a "mémoire"!
The cache is not located on the airfield, you can park your car near the Restaurant. From there it´s an easy 10 minute walk. You do not have to enter the airfield. The coordinates are very precise!
Please leave everything as you found it, we´ll be there at least three times a year for possible maintanence(and gliderflying!!!)
