While hiking the Old Mine Trail, I spent some time off-trail searching for remnants of long-lost mines. Although my prospecting did not lead me to any "mineral" deposits, I did stumble into a beautiful little area filled with
"vegetable" beauty... a small meadow ringed with clumps of wild iris, ranging in color from white to deep purple.
For a closer look, take a seat in the shade.
The container is a plastic Rubbermaid box filled with small trade items and a log. Please bring your own pen.
Mt. Madonna County Park is open year-round from 8 a.m. until sunset. Free parking is available at the Sprig Recreation Area, the site of the trailhead.
