Cache is
not at posted coordinates. Posted coordinates are, however,
where your journey will begin.
Coordinates will take you to a trailhead and you will follow the
firetacks and reflective ribbons to the cache itself.
Be sure to bring the following:
1. At least one friend. We want you to be safe, so don't go alone.
The cache is in a low-crime, low-traffic area, but it is also in a
very remote area and you never know what you might find. We think
it will be very safe, but want to urge you to take every
precaution.
2. A really good flashlight. The stronger, the better, you can't
have too much light as it is really dark in those woods.
3. A hiking stick of some sort. The cache is not aggressively
hidden, but nature's critters will be out and about, so have one
handy.
4. Sturdy shoes or boots, no open-toed shoes. You will be in the
woods at night, the sturdier your foot protection, the better you
will be protected against the forces of nature. Also, there is a
small creek to traverse, so sturdy shoes will come in handy at that
point.
5. GPSr. You won't need it for the cache, but you may need it to
navigate back to the car. Clear out your breadcrumb trail and have
fresh batteries. Trail is clearly marked going into the woods, and
leaving, but if you happen to take a wrong turn, this could be
vital.
As you head down the trail, you will come to an
intersection with five points. Use your flashlights to make sure
you are headed down the proper trail.
On the way in, you will have a one-tack system to guide you.
At the first intersection, you will make a right turn (as evidenced
by three tacks) and after traveling down that path a ways, you will
make a left turn (also evidenced by three tacks).
When you arrive at the cache site, an "X" of five tacks will mark
your spot. The cache is located within 10-15 feet of the X and is
no more than a few feet from the trail. No need to bushwhack on
this one.
On the way out, you will look for two tacks. As you near the same
intersection you went in on, you will see two trees with two tacks
each. Head in that direction. After you pass the two sets of tacks,
you will follow the reflectors the rest of the way out of the
woods.
Always stick to the clearly marked trails and you shouldn't have
any problems. We hope you have as much fun hunting this one as
several members of the CSRA Geocachers (thefourfreys, geoholic28,
dobecountry, PowerlessPeach and salutations) had placing it. A
special thanks to DaddyFrey who did most of the
work!
