Another cache just off a loop trail near Stumpy Lake golf course. It's a nice walk in the woods on level terrain. This is placed in thanksgiving for the life of Frank Harris Vest, Jr., the eighth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia (1989-98), who died April 5, 2008 in Lynchburg, Virginia at the age of 72. Vest was known for "his abiding commitment to social justice combined with his radical hospitality to those whose opinions differed from his own." Born January 5, 1936 in Roanoke, VA, he graduated with a B.A. from Roanoke College (1959), and an M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary (1962). He was ordained a deacon in 1962 and a priest in 1963. He served parishes in Roanoke, VA and Radford, VA before becoming rector of Christ Church, Charlotte, NC from 1973-85. He was Suffragan Bishop of North Carolina from 1985-89.
