This one is dedicated to my good friend, Kodiak Dave, who determined that there are only 24 hours in a day, and a zillion caches in the world...so obviously, there was no time for his career. After three decades of dedicated service, Dave has hung up his work hat and donned his beloved Tilley, hitting the trails with GPSr in hand and ten times more batteries than are necessary.
So, why the name “Kodiak Dave?” It turns out our co-cacher hails from the beautiful island paradise along the southern coast of Alaska. To find out more about his home town, visit this cache, which is starting out with tourism guides, courtesy of the Kodiak, Alaska Chamber of Commerce; a vacation brochure; a couple dozen tiny forest creatures; and last but not least, a FTF dollar.
Among the items in the cache, you will find several bears, as in Kodiak bears. If you really know Dave, you’ll know he likes the creatures so much that he wore a “bear pin” just about every day he came to work. In spite of this, I think he can bear to part with it now.
So, now that Kodiak Dave has more free time, watch his caching numbers grow. As the title says, he’s bearly begun!
