Thirteen Locks Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Suebedz: I have been considering archiving this cache for sometime as I am aware of the slug problem. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I tell these blooming slugs to keep away from my cache they take no notice. I was not aware of the litter problem and as it one of my pet hates I am archiving this cache. Thank you to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

A small lock and lock box placed alongside the Tame Valley Canal. A fairly easy walk along the tow path which can get muddy after rain. Please take care when walking along the sometimes narrow tow path.

There is a lovely view approaching the cache site of 8 of the 13 thirteen locks this very straight stretch of the Tame Valley Canal is famous for. The water through the locks rises 106 feet. We saw heron's fishing during our walk.

At Perry Top Lock where no.1 lock is there is a car park N52.31.948 W001.54 835 if you would prefer to walk down the lock or alternatively park at Halfords on the corner of College Rd / Kingstanding Rd at N52.31.827 W001.53.486. If you want to walk upstream.

Also at Perry Top Lock there are the original Lock Keepers Cottage, Perry Lock Cottage, stabling and gauging station.

The cache is a small box containing a FTF badge and certificate for the First to Find and the usual geogoodies.

Very well done to Andynelaine for the First to Find, they must have extremely good night time vision.
