Non sono in molti a saperlo, ma sotto quel piccolo polmone di verde di Milano, conosciuto con il nome di "Monte Stella", è stratificata la recente storia della città.
Tutto ebbe inizio dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, quando i detriti della città sventrata dai bombardamenti venivano trasportati lontano dal centro. Col trascorrere del tempo fu deciso di creare una discarica per questi detriti in via Alemagna. Alle macerie del 1948 si aggiunsero quelle delle ricostruzioni degli anni successivi e presto anche quelle della prima linea della metropolitana... negli anni sessanta questi detriti avevano raggiunto un altezza pari a metà di quella del Duomo di Milano.
La
montagnetta (i milanesi la chiamano amichevolmente in questo modo) porta il nome di Stella ossia della moglie dell'architetto Piero Bottoni, considerato il papà del vicino QT8 (Quartiere dell'ottava Triennale), che si appassionò da sempre all'idea di una montagnetta in Milano e che per lei progettò persino un ascensore ed una galleria, opere mai realizzate.
Nel 1952 il progetto della montagnetta venne approvato e sul Monte Stella iniziò l'opera di rimboschimento dei suoi 40.000 metri quadri di superficie.
Oggi questo è uno dei luoghi preferiti da joggers, ciclisti e da chiunque voglia camminare un po' in salita nel verde. Dalla cima, che vi consiglio di raggiungere, si gode un piacevole panorama su parte della città.

Not many people know that under the small green hill in Milano, known as the "Monte Stella" (literally "Mount Stella"), there is part of the recent history of this city.
All started after the second world war, when the wreckage of the city destroyed by the bombing were taken far from the city center. With the time being a new wreckage disposal site was created in Alemagna Street. In that place were deposited not only the wreckage of the war, but also the one coming from the rebuilding of the city and of the first line of the subway... in the sixties the wreckages reached an altitude of half of the altitude of the Duomo Cathedral in Milan.
This hill (the citizen of Milan friendly call it
La Montagnetta, literally "the small mountain") is named Stella after the wife of the architect Piero Bottoni, considered also the father of the close QT8 district (named for the eight Triennale exhibition). He has been interested in the idea of a hill in Milan since the beginning and he also projected an elevator and a gallery for it, but they have never been built.
In 1952 the project for the hill was approved and on the "Monte Stella" started the reforestation on the area of 40.000 square meters.
Today this is one of the favorite places by joggers, bikers and whoever would like to have a little walk in a green area. From the top, that we suggest to reach, you will have a nice view of part part of the city.
