Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Imperial River!

This cache is one in a series of shorter paddling caches that can be done in a few hours. You know, for those days when you would really like to get out on the water but don't have the time to plan a longer trip to the 10,000 Islands! We have several long-distance kayak caches in the area that require more advanced paddling and planning skills. My hope is that this series of milder trips will encourage new paddlers to get out on the water and try out this awsome sport!

Put in at the Imperial River Park boat ramp. This is a 'pay & display' park, $5.00 for all day. You will paddle inland up the river. The cache is just under a 2 mile round trip...but don't stop there! You can paddle 2 or 3 more miles farther up the river (depending on the tides) and really get to see some beautiful neighborhoods. Also, I think you will be surprised at the diversity in different areas along the riverfront.

This cache is best paddled at higher tides. The small cache will be easy to find, but has been given an extra star for difficulty because you WILL have to step out of your boat to retrieve it! The coords can be difficult to settle in this area, so the cache has been hidden near a 'focal point'. Just take another look at the picture...you will see this tree again!

And finally, don't forget to write down the secret coord codes you will find at the top of the log sheet! This is one of four caches that you must paddle to be able to find the mystery paddling cache, 'Kayache!' GC17REY. The four caches with secret codes are:

Yak-the-Hatchee GC1BDQK

Beauty and the Beach GC1BDQQ

Oh, Nuts! GC1BDQV

Imperialist GC1BDQG

You can click on the 'users web page' on this cache page to access printable copies of pertinent charts.

Have a great time out there...paddle safely...and don't forget to bring a pen!
