Kesällä tiekirkkona toimiva Ilomantsin luterilainen kirkko sijaitsee osoiteessa Henrikintie 1. Musta katto ja punaiseksi maalatut puuseinät edustavat Karjalan värejä. Sisällä kirkon seiniä koristaa sata Samuel Elmgrenin vuosina 1830-1832 maalaamaa enkeliä. Hän maalasi seinille myös monia muita kuvia Raamatun henkilöistä ja alttaritaulun.
Kirkko sijaitsee lähellä Ilomantsin järveä ja Pääskynpesä –nimistä kuntoutuskeskusta. Pääskynpesässä on erinomainen uimahalli, ruokailumahdollisuus sekä mukava pieni kahvila, mistä saa usein todella hyvää suklaakakkua.

The Lutheran Church of Ilomantsi
You can find the lutheran church of Ilomantsi at 1 Henrikintie. The black roof and the red wooden walls represent the symbolic colours of Finnish Karelia. Inside, the walls are covered with one hundred angels painted by Samuel Elmgren between 1830 and 1832. He also painted plenty of other scenes from the Bible and the altar-piece.
The chuch is situated close to Lake Ilomantsi and a place called Pääskynpesä, where you can book accommodation, have a meal, go for a swim in multiple pools and visit the café for some tasty chocolate cake.
This geocache is not under a stone! You don’t need a ladder or to crawl on the ground.
