The cache is located in Makoshika State Park. If the switchback
roads are closed it is a 2 mile hike to the cache - otherwise it is
only several hundred feet off the gravel road.
The geocache is hidden near the National Geodetic Survey (NGS)
marker -- BADLANDS - ET 1966 --. Be sure and look for the marker
when you are at the geocache. If you find the marker first it will
help you find the geocache. The switchbacks in Makoshika State Park
are closed from October through April. The cache is still
accessible, however you will have to hike 2 miles on the road to
the site. It is a nice hike. This is not a good road to be on if it
has rained. The cache is an ammo can with BADLANDS GEOCACHE written
on the side. It contains trinkets from the 2007 MARLS State
Convention and a surveyor’s notebook for visitors. The BADLANDS
GEOCACHE has been reviewed and approved by the Makoshika State
Park. Happy Hunting. Enjoy the view.
