HHMT 21: To the Lake! Traditional Cache

Stan&Ruth: WOW! 3 DNFs the same day as someone found it. A muggle could have observed the finder and investigated the location after the finder left. Freckles and I checked the location this morning and and the cache is indeed gone. This is the 2nd time the cache was muggled from this general location. The series has had a good run for three summers. That is longer than originally expected. I am out of HHMT Trading Cards for this cache. Two other caches in the series are already archived and three are disabled. So, I am throwing in the towel for this one.

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the 100 mile/ 22 cache series known as the
Huron History Mystery Tour (HHMT)

This cache is accessible by boat or land along the Huron River. Parking is available within 100 feet of the cache.

It is easy for pollutants to get into the River system. Some items are intentionally dumped, but most pollutants are transported into the river system by water runoff. Water runoff from rainfall, snowmelt and sprinklers travels overland and pollutants "hitch a ride" to the nearest storm drain, ditch or creek. From there, the polluted water enters the Huron River unfiltered and untreated. Sources of pollutants include excess fertilizer on lawns, automotive fluid leaks on drives and parking lots, litter, grass clippings, solvents and detergents. Pollutants cause declines in water quality, harming the creatures living in and around the River. In the Huron River Watershed, 75% of the pollutant loads entering the Huron River are from home sites – indicating that individual actions make a big difference! When you get home from caching - think about the river as more than just this narrow band of water!
