Geocache Description:

A "Flash Mob" Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event.

The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to the geocaching.

Come be part of this historic event! There are currently 160 of these events planned to happen simultaneously in 45 U.S. States and 14 other counties. This is one of two so far in Rhode Island, the other being WWFM III - Rhode Island by Rich the BushWhacker (GC1BCF2) in the north east corner of the state. As we know, many Rhode Islanders won't drive more that 20 miles, so I thought I'd add one down south.

***HAWAIIAN SHIRT THEME*** Just to make this a tad more fun and to make us a bit more conspicuous to the crowd....I think it would be fun if as many people as possible wore loud Hawaiian shirts to the event. ( If you don't have one, don't worry ). I'll provide the leis!***

The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

The event will begin precisely at 1:00pm EDT on Saturday, May 10, 2008. It will be held on the grounds of the Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown, RI. This is in an open public space in a State Park. The event will be highly organized and facilitated by volunteers. A minute by minute itinerary will be posted below.

***THE PLAN***

At exactly 1:00pm (as determined by the GPS clock) we will place a box full of nice, new swag at the coordinates. We will then blow a whistle. At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere".

One volunteer will hand out "log sheets" / raffle entries (same sheet). Participants will sign the log sheets (which will later become a log book), to qualify for attendance and drop them in a designated collection box. Bring a pen. Participants may trade swag via the swag box at any time. We encourage you to bring nice swag to trade.
If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer hand out fliers that explain geocaching.

1:00pm - Gather at the event site and don you Hawaiian Shirt!
1:01pm - Fill out Log/Raffle Sheets & distribute leis
1:03pm - Toss Hershey Kisses to all attendance for the event "meal".
1:06pm - Group photo - organize quick with as many of us as possible
1:10pm - Call out the raffle winners.
1:13pm - CITO the area and prepare to vacate.
At precisely 1:15pm, the swag box and the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The whistle will blow again signaling the end of the event. The area will be vacated without a trace!!! Events that happen after 1:15:01 do not count as part of THIS event.

Among the raffle prizes, there will be:
* A BEAUTIFUL, BRAND NEW LITTLE RHODY 2008 QUAHOG GEOCOIN! ( see photo )
* A LOCAL RESTAURANT GIFT CERTIFICATE ( thanks DeliGuy! )
* A ROLL OF VERY TREASURED NEWPORT BRIDGE TOKENS ( to appease those who actually have to cross the bridge! )
* A BEAUTIFUL, BRAND NEW ( and already sold-out ) LE LIGHTHOUSE COIN!

Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the event.

Tell your friends and help promote the event!

Suggestion: COME EARLY TO FIND PARKING AND BE PREPARED BEFORE THE 1pm START TIME. Some people ( not to mention any names...Team All Outa Cache....) missed last year's event in Providence because they ran late. Parking should not be difficult as there are several lots within 500 feet of the event and a few handicapped spaces VERY close by.

Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 1:15pm. Jamestown is currently LOADED with over 40 caches on just this beautiful little island - including many recent additions. it's a great place to spend a spring day geocaching!

I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)

***HELP WANTED*** I will need a few volunteers to help pull this off ( Including a photographer to take the group photo - a non-cacher would be optimal so all cachers can be in the picture ). If you are interested in helping, please let me know. Thanks!
