Geocache Description:

This will be the Valleys' very first World Wide Flash Mob Caching Event. Just what is a WWFM event?

The Basic Idea:
A "Flash Mob" Gathering of Geocachers. Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event.

Please BYOP! (Bring your own pen)

The World Wide Flash Mob Event: Dozens of events all around the world, coordinated to happen at the same time to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to geocaching.

You're heard of MEGA-EVENTS? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. FLASH MOBS have gathered for other reasons (visit link) Come be part of this historic event!

The event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

The event will begin precisely at noon CST on May 10, 2008. The event will be held at the southern most end of the McAllen Convention Center pond . This is in an open public space.

The Plan
At exactly noon (as determined by the GPS clock) I will place a small CD player on the ground near the end of the pond to play some pleasant, upbeat music. At this point, all geocachers will converge, seeming to come out of "nowhere". (grin)

I will hand out "log sheets". Participants will sign the log sheets (which will later become a log book), to qualify for attendance and drop them in a designated collection box. Bring a pen.

At a designated time, I will hand out Hershey's Miniatures to all in attendance for the event "meal". At a designated time, we will take a group photo. Let's plan to all wear clothes with the colors found on the geocaching logo (green, blue, yellow, or orange).
Everyone is encouraged to mingle, dance to the music, or just act silly for the enjoyment of cachers and muggles alike.

At precisely 12:15 the log sheets will be packed up and sealed away. The event area will be vacated without a trace, and any left over candy will go home with me!

Only those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the event.

With many of our Winter Texans off for cooler climates, who knows what our attendance will be? Be sure to tell all your friends to come and help promote the event!

Suggestion: COME EARLY and park in the east side parking lot. Do not get out of your cars too early. That might spoil the surprise!

Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 12:15.

I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)

PLEASE CHECK BACK OFTEN TO SEE IF THERE ARE UPDATES FOR THIS EVENT. You may want to include this on your watchlist to receive any updates that are posted.

Finally, if anyone has suggestions on what to wear, a theme for the gathering, or what else we can pack into those 15 minutes - feel free to post it in a log here.

Thanks and I hope you can "COME TO THE VALLEY"!
