Geocache Description:

Mynydd y Garn is one of a series of caches placed within the Ystradfellte Community in the Brecon Beacons. The series consists of ten caches plus, for anyone who finds all ten, a bonus cache.

Although not the highest, this is perhaps the most remote of the Ystradfellte series. Mynydd y Garn is a slightly anonymous part of the Ystradfellte region, but you can always be sure of a walk away from the hordes of Sunday afternoon strollers and photographers you're almost certain to meet in other parts of the Community.

In fact, if you take a closer look at the area, there are plenty of interesting things to pick out on this seemingly barren landscape. There are cairns, rocky outcrops, reentrants, and shake holes to find. It's the perfect place to practise your micronavigation skills! Also watch out for lizards, which love to bask in the sun in this heathland.

From the cache location, you can enjoy views of Fan Llia, Fan Nedd, and Fan Gyhirych to the north-west, while Fan Fawr, Corn Du, and Pen y Fan rise up from the earth to the north-east.

You will find a number printed on the inside front cover of the log book. You will need to make a note of this number in order to find the bonus cache.
