Uddevalla Tändsticksfabrik

På den här platsen låg Uddevalla
tändsticksfabrik. Tändstickstillverkningen startade 1874
av Adolph P Zackau och när hans son Artur Zackau tog över
utvecklades fabriken till en av de största i Sverige.
På 1920-talet tog Svenska Tändsticksaktiebolaget
över och då byggdes kompletteringsfabriken som var en
fullt ut automatiserad produktion.
Fabriken lades ned på hösten 1938.
I början på 1900-talet fanns det tre stora industrier i
Uddevalla, Uddevallaborna hade naturligtvis smeknamn på de
tre fabrikerna och de hade olika status. Lägst status hade
Kampenhof bomullsspinneri som kallades ”möket”
sedan kom tändsticksfabriken som kallades
”stickan”. Högst status var det att jobba på
Schwartzman o Nordström, kallat ”tiger”,
självklart klädde sig herrarna som arbetade där i
kostym.

On this site Uddevalla tändsticksfabrik was situated. The
match production started in 1874 by Adolph P Zackau and when his
son, Artur Zackau, took over the factory developed to one of the
largest in Sweden.
In the 1920´s the Svenska Tändsticksaktiebolaget took
over and the completion factory was built with a fully automated
production.
The factory was shut down in 1938.
In the beginning of the 1900´s there was three big industries
in Uddevalla. The residents of Uddevalla had nicknames for the
factorys and they had different status amongst the workers. The
lowest status had Kampenhof cotton-mill and was called
“möket” after that came the match-factory that was
called “stickan. The best status was to work at Schwartzmann
o Nordström, called “tiger”, and of course the
gentlemen that worked there wore suits.
