Geocache Description:

All caches are hidden EAST of the path a short distance. ADJUSTMENT! Add 0.005 to tne north and subtract 0.011 from the west. Not that far and armed with the hint you should be ok.

Stage one is just coordinates. Stage two is a 16oz HDPE jar. No need to approach the railroad tracks or go on private property for any stage of any cache.

This is a series of caches along the Skokie Valley Bike Path. They are designed to be done while biking (or blading) the trail. Save yourself some extra riding by starting at either #1 or #12 in the series. You can pick up all of the stage-one's in one direction, then get all of the stage-two's in the other direction. Do be warned that while all the caches are very close to the trail, you will be searching in dense brush with thorns! Bike shorts are probably a bad idea.

The Birds

I've always been amazed by the quantity and variety of birds along this path. Lots of Cardinals (the Illinois State Bird) and Robins, of course, but also a varity of Warblers as well as a slew of other birds I don't know the names of.

I know that birds like to migrate along river valleys, and the Skokie Valley must attract a fair share. In addition, the way this path is nestled between rail tracks and busy highways, there are probably few predators. Besides, the dense brush and thorn bushes which are going to make hunting the finals in this series so tough is a wonderful place for the birds to thrive in!
