The cache hunt follows a 10 minute walk along a lovely riverside trail. It's good to hike with a poem in your pocket!
Park behind the town hall. Do not bushwack! Instead, walk down the hill to the town landing on the river (counter intuitive)and pick up the trail there. A half-mile scenic walk will take you to the cache site; there's a place to rest while pondering the possibilities.
You are searching for a slim ammo box. It is a traditional cache (take something, leave something) but it also has a theme: poetry!
There will be a plastic bag with copies of one of Salida's favorite poems. Take one and be inspired! (Periodically there will be a new poem offered, so you're encouraged to revisit the cache from time to time.)
You're invited (but not required) to leave a copy of your favorite poem. You can travel with one in your pocket or write your own on the spot (in the log itself, if it's short enough). Doggerel counts as poetry in this cache!
