Lovell Field Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Adium: Due to the overwhelming surplus of geocachers that mistake this site for 4chan, I am archiving all my caches. Doesn't mean this cache isn't there, just means I am sick of explaining that it's only a game.

Geocache Description:

While I was in High school in marathon I had some car trouble late at night (about 1am) and pulled into the parking area here to try and resolve my issue.  Unknowingly to myself, this park closes at 10pm!  It has never been an issue before and never gave it a second thought.  While trying to figure out why my car wouldn't start (at 18 years old) a cop shows up and gives me the hardest time I have every received from a cop.  Gave me a field sobriety test, searched my car, the whole nine yards.  Still to this day I have never encountered a cop like this.  I cooperated and she continued.  After a half hour or better of realizing that I could very well be telling the truth and have nothing to hide, they then threatened to arrest me for trespassing.  Park closes at 10pm, and it was after 10pm.  After some pleading, and convincing that I seriously had car trouble, they let me off with a warning.

I tell this story because today, the first time in over 10 years since I have been in this park I had a visit from another cop.  My first encounter with a cop while geocaching.  Ironic as it may seen I had the complete opposite experience with this cop.  He asked what I was doing. When I asked if he knew about geocaching he replied "no, why don't you tell me about it" with a enthusiastic smile on his face.  The complete opposite from the last experience I had with the police in this park.  I was certain I was at least going to get a parking ticket for being on the grass or questioned a little more after seen inconspicuously wandering around thorn bushes while wearing shorts.

I was born and raised in Marathon.  If you know Marathon, then you know there isn't much else to say.  It's small, boring, and barely makes its place on the map.  I left almost a decade ago and now have moved back into the area.  Well, Syracuse area anyway.  I still have family here so I visit regularly.  I am trying to get them involved into Geocaching except that there isn't that many cache's here to interest them.  I am looking to change that.

This cache is the first of many more to come.  You are looking for a large red plastic Folgers coffee can.  I only included a log book, and a pen without much else.  I am more interested in increasing the number of cache's here than anything else.  You may be required to do a little bushwacking, I placed this while wearing shorts and regretted it.

Good Luck & Happy Caching!!!!!
