Gustav Mahler (1860 - 1911)
’A beautiful place which surely repairs your body and soul ...’ This is how Gustav Mahler, the famous Bohemian composer, described his summer holiday in Dobbiaco. During the summer months of 1908 to 1910 he stayed at the Trenkerhof in Carbonin Vecchia, where he composed the ’Ninth Symphony’, the incomplete ‘Tenth Symphony’ and the ‘Song of the Earth’.
Today, it is possible to see the room, that Gustav Mahler once occupied together with his wife Alma, as well as the composer’s cabin, a little wooden building which Mahler had built in order to work undisturbed.
In addition you can enjoy the programme of the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks which take place every summer in commemoration of the great composer and his beautiful and famous works.
