Woodland Hideaway Traditional Cache
no_angel: I passed the park earlier this week and noticed there had been some new tree clearing, which probably affected the cache. It was a good run.

Woodland Park is one of those small, neighborhood green spaces. It doesn't have playground equipment or even picnic tables, but it is still a nicely wooded spot, great for walking the dog. Just across the street is the levee and Mississippi River. The path on top of the levee is popular for joggers, dog walkers and those who just love to watch the river.
Looking out across the river from the levee, you'll see several Chalmette landmarks. To the far left, the twin towers mark the Domino Sugar Refinery. Next you'll see a white obelisk, the Chalmette Monument (GCA55A), which was built in tribute to the soldiers who fought in the Battle of New Orleans. Almost directly across the river is a smokestack, a landmark from the days when the Kaiser Aluminum Plant was a big employer in the area. Last but not least, you'll see the labyrinthine structures of
the Chalmette ExxonMobil Refinery.
If you're of a mind, the Chalmette Ferry (WM2ZB8) crosses the Mississippi about 1.5 miles downriver from here. The ferry operates from 6:00 AM to 8:45 PM daily. From the Algiers side of the river, the ride costs $1 for vehicles - pedestrians ride for free. There is no charge to ride if you board the ferry on the Chalmette side of the river. The ferry is a great way to get up close and personal with the river; if you get out of your car and walk to the railings you can almost reach out and touch the river!
OK! I know all you really want is the low down on the cache Here it is: you're looking for a customized M&M container. Log only, remember to bring your own writing implement. The park is usually very quiet, but you'll want to use stealth. Please replace the cache as you found it or better.
