The cache is near a hiking/bridle trail. The sand footing can be tiring, but the terrain is pretty flat with just a few small hills. Bring your bug spray in the summer months.
The cache is hidden in Tippecanoe River State Park just north of Winamac on Hwy 35. You'll need to stop at the gate house to pay a modest entrance fee and pick up a trail map. While the terrain is relatively flat and the trails are wide, the deep sand underneath will give you a good workout. Keep a sharp eye out for deer and wild turkey which are numerous in this park. Please don't forget a trash bag to help police the park for cans as you hike!
This cache is to honor the Morgan Horse, America's first breed of horse. We have loaded the cache with equine treasures and ask those who visit to try to maintain the equestrian theme if possible. We've started it off with the following: Morgan Sport Horse Patch, Morgan Pin, Morgan bracelet trinket, Morgan Horse Club first place ribbon, a small toy horse, and a horse weight & height tape.
NOTE: This cache was moved in Nov. 2001 (as an animal had moved it) to a more secure location not too far from the original site. It was again moved on 31 Aug 2003 since it's log was destroyed and I found it sitting out in the open. I have recently updated the Aug 03 coordinates to match those sent by a fellow cacher (many Thanks!)to see if this gets you on the correct side of the trail in your search. My original coordinates were: N41 06.706 and W086 35.409 just in case..
