This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Along the banks of the Milwaukee River off a rough dirt trail.

This is a traditional cache (ammo box)that was initially stocked with 1 dozen fire fighter figures. It is located about 0.3 miles south of its sister cache, Firebox #1, along the same trail. The trail is a rough dirt trail, but not too difficult. Parts of it can be muddy when wet.

This cache is placed to encourage people to get off the bike path and enjoy the river. Mountain bikers use the trail, but it is not suitable for road bikes.

Entrance from the north is via Estabrook Park. There is a parking lot there and a paved trail behind the restroom building leads down to the river. Firebox #1 is near the base of the paved trail. Follow the trail south to Firebox #2.

Entrance from the south is probably easiest from Hubbard Park. There is a parking lot there (near Morris and Menlo blvds. Catch the dirt trail down by the riverbank below Hubbard Park Lodge (Sunday brunch anyone?). This is a great little park that most people on the bike path do not visit. There is a tunnel entrance under the bike path from the parking lot. Bicycles can get to the parking lot by following the path through River Park on the east side of the bike path. Go around the baseball diamond and follow the driveway around behind the River Park Apartments. The driveway leads right into the Hubbard Park parking lot.
