Thanks to the Georgia Wildlife Federation there are now steps down
to the Nature Center trails.
These trails were constructed at about 2000 when the Mall was
built
Whoops, heavy rains and flooding resulted in the original cache
making like a boat. Maybe it's a traveler heading for the Gulf of
Mexico!? Anyway, there's a new one there now, far off the beaten
track and a bit harder to find. It is also off the ground enough
that it hopefully won't float away. If you found the earlier one
feel free to find and log this one too. I didn't feel like posting
a whole new cache. While there I also placed a
micro cache.
Update 3/30/03: Checked on the cache while performing some trail
maintenace here. The cache is fine. Wish I could say the same about
the wetlands: Between trees falling on the trails and boardwalks,
flooding, and vandalism, it's all reverting back to nature. I
cleaned up the area as best I could. Please continue to pick up
litter and clear brush off the trails - it's only by keeping the
area looking like it's used do we keep the kids from totally
destroying the bridges. I startled a large herd of deer, which
really made my day!
Update 1/31/04:
The wetlands will be closed to the public until trail access and
trail restoration work has been completed. You may see "Posted - No
Trespassing" signs. If you park anywhere but at a nearby business
mall security will question you. However, you can access the cache
if you let the Ga. Wildlife Federation know ahead of time.
To do this please e-mail Carol Hassell at
chassell@GWF.org.
My appreciating to Laura Bryant, Jason Diem, Christina Marr, and
now Carol Hassell for allowing this.
You can keep up with progress at the nature center by going to

Thanks!
Do not look for the cache without e-mailing Carol beforehand,
please expect to wait a few days for permission.
