A second cache in the heart of Ripley, a delightful tourist village
which is a must visit.
This cache is to back up my other traditional cache in the
village
Ripley Castle
Type of cache...
The cache in intended for those who just appear in the
village and want a cache to do without any pre-thought or puzzle
solving
Where is the cache...
Obviously the cache is not at the above co-ordinates, but at the
co-ordinates you will find yourself standing next to a corner of a
building at the entrance to the ice cream shop in the heart of the
village.
At this location you will find some item to help you find the
co-ordinates to final the physical cache container, which is a
short 5 minute walk through the village.
The whole cache will not take you any longer than a typical
traditional and can nearly be classed as a drive by as both this
location and the cache location can be reached by car.
It obviously depends on how long it takes you to translate the
clue item at the above location.
The village of Ripley...
Ripley is a remarkable village which is centred around the home
of the Inglebys who have lived here since 1308/09.
There are plenty of places to visit within the village and some
delightful short or long walks around the area - let me take you on
a quick guided tour.
A guided tour...
Ripley however is too nice a place just to have a quick cache and
grab of a couple of caches and therefore can I please recommend
that you take the following guided tour of the village and
surrounding area and enjoy the village.
Both of my caches will take you to most of the best locations,
however before you go plastic box hunting lets start our tour with
a visit the Castle Tea Rooms for a cuppa, or a quick visit to many
of the delights of the Castle Gift Shop.
Nothing however gives you more pleasure than a delightful walk
around The Lake & Deer Park with its very own walled gardens
and woodlands. Here you will see plenty of deer and other
wildlife.
Following this route back to the village again you will pass the
Castle Tea Rooms, which no doubt you will need after the long walk
around The Lake & Deer Park. The Castle Tea Rooms are in the
castle yard and by the way, you do not have to go into Ripley
Castle to visit them.
The village includes All Saints Church which is rich in history
with links to Oliver Cromwell with strange ancient monument which
remains a mystery to this day. Let me know by email what form this
monument takes place (not part of logging the cache by the way,
just an interesting diversion whilst caching)
In this same small area the Castle Gift Shop is again located in
the castle yard.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than bringing this delightful
village to for you to visit and I hope you will have a delightful
time here
Nothing will make you take my short tour including the Castle
Tea Rooms, but please be aware that there are plenty of other
places to visit and for that extra bit of unusual twist have a look
at the description of the main building in the centre of the
village (next to the phone box) where Ripley blues club plays. You
would think that you are in France - It says "Hotel de Ville" !
Finding the Cache co-ordinates...
Anyway enough of my rambling on and most of you will do what I
sometimes do when I am caching and just read the essentials to find
the cache. I would not advise this in respect of this cache.
Anyway here goes...
Park the car and walk to the co-ordinates posted at the top of
the page. At the corner of the building you will find a map of the
village with references to places that are numbered
Inspect this item carefully together with the cache page...
I am sure that it will soon dawn on experianced caches what you
have to do.
Good luck...
Oh and finally... take Nothing for granted, and carefully read
everything you see
