Beechy Hollow Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

andrewmb: As mentioned in pieces_of_8's log the ditches round the field have been dug - or rather excavated. This means that instead of a shallow grassy hollow in front of the beech tree there is a four foot deep gulley.

The place that the cache was hidden is still present in the base of the tree, but the cache isn't there. To get to the cache location now requires climbing into the ditch which isn't very convenient. In addition since it seems to have been deliberately removed rather than accidently caught up in the ditch digging I will archive the cache rather than replace it.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The cache is sited a few feet from the footpath near a field boundary. The field to the West is almost two metres higher than the one to the East. The footpath once had steps between the two levels but these seem to have fallen out of use. Another footpath that runs between the two fields (a few hundred metres South) also has steps.

Parking might be a little difficult. There are some cottages nearby but the road is very narrow. The other end of the footpath is also a narrow road. The coordinates of a potential parking location just under a kilometre from the cache are given below. Wherever you park please show consideration to the locals.

The cache is a fairly large (but shallow) locking plastic container. The cache just fits in the hiding place and is well hidden from view so please make sure that it is out of sight and covered up when you leave.
