The cliffs of the Neuberg/Die Neuberg Klippen
Once a popular tourist destination in the Rhoen, the Neuberg was off limits to visitors during under East Germany's SED government and the area was forgotten. There was once a staircase going to the top of the cliffs. Be sure to check the dates carved into the trees near the former staircase. There is one from 1896!

Die Neuberg-Klippen waren einmal ein beliebtes Ausflugziel.
Aber der Neuberg lag lange Jahre durch seine Grenznähe im Sperrgebiet der DDR und ist daher
beinahe in Vergessenheit geraten.
Hier war einst sogar eine Treppe, die auf die Klippen hochführte.
Vergeßt nicht, einen Blick auf die Inschriften in der Rinde der Buche zu werfen.
Eine ist von 1896!
