We placed a cache in honor of GeoMom for Mother’s Day.
Remember how close we lived to Fair Haven Graded School, and how often I was tardy? Remember when my second grade teacher remanded me to the cloakroom for punishment, then forgot I was there when everyone went home for lunch, and I didn’t dare leave? Remember cleaning up my friends and me when we sledded down the hill into the raspberry bushes? Remember all the floral and amphibian gifts from our adventures in the swamp behind the school? Happy Mothers Day GeoMom!
The trail heads back into the woods to a very large, long-abandoned foundation. Town historians believe these were buildings to house the trolley cars that went between Fair Haven and Rutland in the early 1900's. The cache is a less than one hundred foot bushwhack from the foundation. The area can be wet; bug spray is a good accessory. The tree cover gave us just thirty foot accuracy but Geosense should work.
