When I saw the parking area installed last year I was sure somebody
would leap at the chance to mark it off with a cache. Nobody did.
Until now.
The parking lot is open from 8AM to 8PM, but the cache itself is
accessible 24/7. There is a porta-potty here and fresh drinking
water. Every time I have visited both have been as clean and
sanitary as could be expected. Hopefully this will remain to be the
case. March 24, 2009: So far, so good
This cache exists mainly to show off the parking area, but is
being released with another in the park
(
GC1C8RC How'd That Get There?) near the
junction of
the Meyers Ranch and High Ridge Loop trails (click link for
online map or
get topo
pdf here) so that it doesn't have to be just another cache and
dash. Because of the proximity of the start of the most excellent
Nefertiti's Pyramid multi, the cache is not actually in the parking
area. The muggles across the street do use their balconies, so be
aware and discrete. The terrain is set at 1.5 only because a person
in a wheelchair would not be able to easily retrieve the cache.
Edit March 24, 2009: The ground is no
longer tilled. It is now mown turf. It would be feasible to take a
wheelchair from the parking area when dry.
Replacing the log follows the same rules as with a bison tube.
Roll it up and place it in the lid. Replace lid. An
emergency log removal tool is provided in case the log
gets loose inside. The lid is marked to show when it is fully
closed.
Especially since this is my first hide, suggestions are
welcome.
Congratulations to Kablooey for the
FTF!
