Geocache Description:

A prime location for a travel bug hotel? Not!

Although the trail to Band Tail Point is easily reached from the East Picnic Area, this short stretch has a feeling of remoteness about it.

As I hiked the trail, I thought about how inappropriate this spot would be for a travel bug hotel. You know the type.....

TBs check in and never check out
Owners begin to assume that their TBs are missing
Multiple TBs are dropped by uncaring cachers
Cachers come and go, but refuse to grab "loser" TBs
TBs gather dust INSIDE the container

Let's show TBs that even remote caches can provide a happy TB environment. If, by chance, a TB does land here, let's make sure that it is moved along quickly, before it makes the mistake of trying to call for room service!

Because of tree cover, the coordinates at the site were extremely poor. To reach the cache, hop the fallen log to reach the narrow unmarked trail. Just uphill on your left is a long decomposing log. Check out the area by the large central twisted limb.

The container is a clear plastic Lock & Lock box filled with trade items and a log. Please bring your own pen.

At Jacks Peak County Park, day use hours vary. When I visited, the posted park hours were 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Although free parking is available at the overlook, paying the vehicle use fee will allow you to park very near the trailheads.
