Geocache Description:

A micro cache in Bridge Of Allan's town centre.

I've always liked this lovely old lamp with it's vibrant, rich colours and stained glass panels. It originally stood outside the Provost's house but is now permanently located at "The Cross", which was the hub of Victorian Bridge of Allan. Over the years it has been carefully restored with particular attention being paid to its hand painted stained glass encasement.

Another little bit of history certainly worth a look at while you're in the area is "The Paterson Clock", which sit's just across the road from the Provost's lamp. The clock is a memorial to "Alexander Paterson" who was a distinguished botanist and horticulturist with an international reputation for growing tropical plants, tree ferns and orchids in his garden. Robert Louis Stevenson had to frequently visit the local doctor and he may well have planted the seeds for "Treasure Island" in his young imagination. The three faces of the clock enable you to see the time from either end of "Henderson Street" or as you head down "Mine Road". It also used to serve as a drinking fountain, probably for travellers passing through Bridge of Allan as "Henderson Street" used to be the main route to the north.

There is on street parking near the cache, and at Bridge of Allan's main car park in "Fountain Road". As you can imagine, these are all very busy roads (at all times of day) so care should be taken, especially if you have young children with you.

The cache is a black magnetic nano and is NOT on the lamp itself (in fact with nimble fingers it can be reached without even going in to the gardens).

Please take a pen/pencil with you.

The GPS was acting a wee bit scatty at the time of taking the reading but the clue should help. A good bit of stealth is needed (hence the difficulty rating) for this one as it's in a busy area with lots of shops, flats and curtain twitchers nearby.
