Geocache Description:

Another chance to mix camping, caching and camaraderie. And NVG could have as many as 6 night caches in the park.

Come one, come all to...

IGO Camping III

Friday-Saturday-Sunday...June 20-22, 2008
at Campground #1 (moved from #2 due to high water) in Jester Park (west side of Saylorville Reservoir)

History

In 2005 "IGO Camping" was a lot of fun...despite the t-storms and tornado warnings. IGO Camping II never quite got off the ground in 2006 but a few hardy campers got together at Saylorville last year for the event. The first event featured a handful of temporary caches hidden at Otter Creek Lake in Tama County. Last year we had reserved camping with caches hidden all around the Des Moines area (in spite of heavy rain and flooding). Hopefully this year will be dry and uneventful apart from the caches and chatter around the campfire.

Wanna Camp?

Camp site reservations are NOT allowed in Jester Park but don't let that stop you! Our hope is to have campers claim a number of spots in loop #2 so that we can informally meet around somebody's campfire. The event will be very informal (as camping should be) with no competition. NVG is really running the show and plans to have six (yes, 6) night caches (yes, NIGHT CACHES) in place for our evening enjoyment. That means campers can descend on the lake or on the DM area by day and come back to camp for some night hunting at their leisure.

Check the Jester Park web pages for more information about the park and about the Polk Co. Conservation Board.

Please note that MrRing, Twiggi and the Bear and OAC also have a daytime event (10:30 AM to 4 PM) scheduled in Oskaloosa on June 21st. Check it out at GC1C18D. If you're up for it why not attend both?!? It's about 80 miles (by road) from Jester Park to Oksy with an estimated drive time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. That is, of course, if you don't stop for every cache along the way. If the weather is good I'd bet it may be possible to organize a carpool from camp to Osky and back.
