Geocache Description:

Cache is a micro located in a small park/wayside. Mrs Sloughfoot picked out this spot so don't think just because you have found a lot of Sloughfoot's caches that you know how she thinks.

This wayside is along the Fox River and contains so much history that it might rank as the most historic spot in Wisconsin. First there is a historical marker where Marquette and Joliet started their famous Portage from the Fox River to the Wisconsin River. Second there is a historical marker detailing the building of the Fort Winnebago Third there is a stone marker commemorating the surrender of Indian Chief Red Bird in 1827. Fourth there is a marker listing the officers that served at Fort Winnebago, one of them was Lt Jefferson Davis. Fifth the famous Military Road from Ft Howard to Ft Crawford came through here. This spot would have been included in the Trail of the Serpent Series but there was another cache located here when that series was done. So I will give it an auxilliary standing with the inclusion of (TOTS) in the title.
