Geocache Description:

Come join us the big birthday for the City of Northwood. During the weekend there will be many events planned to celebrate Northwood’s big day. This event is co sponsored by WCAT (Worth County Asset Team). The coordinator (my wife’s aunt) asked me to provide an event using GPS units for an activity for the kids to do that morning. So I said why not make it a full fledged geo event.

Northwood Sesquicentennial Geo Event

WCAT is the Worth County Adult/Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. Their mission statement is to exist to make a positive difference in the lives of youth through strategies that reduce youth substance abuse. They are funded by the Drug free Communities Support Program Grant from SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). WCAT is the lone sponsor of the event.

STARTING TIME: 9am

We will meet at the coordinates listed above which is for the garage of Worth County Engineers office behind the courthouse. At that time we will have a small Geo 101 for those that are new to geocaching as there will be youth from the community that have never done geocaching before.

We will then hand out the passport books of the coordinates of the temporary caches that you will be able to log everyone of. At this time it is unknown of how many caches there will be, but you will definitely get a good history lesson out of the cache locations. Once you have found all of the temporary caches and have all the passwords in your passport book you will be able to get coordinates for the Grand Final cache which will have valuable prizes!!!

Then after everyone gets back to the Engineer’s Office you can hang around and talk geocaching or most likely by that time you will be hungry so stop by one of the food vendors or our local restaurants for a bite to eat.

When posting if you will be able to attend or not please list how many will be attending as we will want to make sure there will be enough prizes for everybody. Northwood will be very busy so you might want to bring along your bikes for easier access and won’t have to worry about parking, but it is not required.
