This camo'ed rubbermaid-style cache is in the hiking area just to the south of Canyon Ski Hill. Parking is available on the dirt road (Range Road 264A) just before the gates.
To get to the coordinates, one can take the shorter, easier route through the field to the trail, or the longer, more challenging route along the south side of the ravine down towards the river (traversing the mouth of the creek and coming up the north side of the ravine...some scrambling required). Make sure you have appropriate hiking footwear!!!
Take your camera, as this area is a beautiful spot to take photographs of the Red Deer River from a "whale-back" vantage point. For being just minutes outside of the city, this location has the feel of being out in the wilderness. On this hike, one will find the sandstone "faces", carved into the rock by many people over the years. The cache is located immediately off the trail at ground level.
Make sure you have very good footing! Only attempt in dry weather. Not recommended for children.
There is a First-Time-Finder's prize for Canada's favorite coffee establishment.
