Geocache Description:

Should be an easy grab. 5m acc when placed.

The Maritime Ringlet (Coenonympha nepisiquit) is a rare salt marsh butterfly found at only 10 locations in the world; 6 of these locations are in the Chaleur region of New Brunswick. The Peters River marsh has, historically, had one of the largest populations of the Ringlet.

The Maritime Ringlet is listed both nationally and provincially as "Endangered". Natural limitations to recovery include its fragmented habitat and limited distribution. Major human-caused threats include habitat destruction (marsh infilling) and pollution.

The best time to see this butterfly is between mid-July and the end of August, on warm days when there is little wind.

I have been working with this species off and on since 2005. Recovery of species at risk can only occur when we work together. We all have a role to play.

**I am very honored to have jim52 be the FTF! Congrats!**
