Easy to get to, path within 60 feet of the cache.

This is a military theme cache so please leave articles that are military in nature.
Back in the 50's, our Military built hundreds of Nike Missle Bases all over the U.S. The purpose of these bases was to defend our country against an attack like the one we delivered to Japan that ended WWII. At that time the only method of delivering a weapon of mass destruction was with a bomber airplane. These Nike missles were designed to shoot down bomber airplanes.
The cache is located on one of these old Nike missle base sites. There are two web sites with related information:

This particular Nike site was identified as D-87.
The cache is a 50mm ammo box and contains:
  • 5-American window flags
  • 3-Military bumper sitckers
  • Private,Corporal & Sargent fatigue arm patches
  • 4-Camouflage pencils
  • 5-Military lapel pins
  • 2-Emergency candles
Follow the path due West and you will see some of the buildings that still remain.
