Some sort of boat is needed for this one. That causes the terrain rating to be a 5. Otherwise, it would be around a 3. You can launch a kayak or canoe from the US Natioinal Whitewater Center or Tuckaseegee Park in Mt Holly. If you lanch from Tuckaseegee Park, park in lot located at N35 16.861 W081 00.778 and follow gravel trail to the river (N35 16.879 W081 00.593). More walking is required if launching from the Whitewater Center but more paddling from Tuckaseegee Park.
The Cache is an ammo can on Saddler Island. I don't know how this cache will be received but I wanted to try it. Give me feedback. If you don't have a kayak, the whitewater center rents flatwater kayas (unguided) for 2 hours. It cost $20 and you must be at least 9yrs old. While your out there, take the time to explore the banks of the Catawba River, Long Creek and other near by creeks and observe the plants and wildlife.
